BIO:

Harmeet Gill is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Project Management Professional (PMP®), and Project Manager with the City of Winnipeg, where he leads a major public infrastructure and technology modernization program. After arriving in Canada as a newcomer, Harmeet progressed from working as a technician to becoming an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), and Project Manager. His journey gives him practical insight into the challenges professionals face when building and advancing their careers in engineering and project management. He has extensive experience delivering $20M+ capital infrastructure, electrical, telecommunications, and technology modernization projects across the public and private sectors in Asia, Africa, and North America.

ABSTRACT:

The speaker will explore practical pathways to building and advancing a career in project management, with a focus on engineers and professionals seeking to strengthen their leadership capabilities. Topics will include PMP® exam readiness, certification options such as CAPM®, PMP®, and PMI-ACP®, eligibility requirements, and key changes to the 2026 PMP® exam. The session will also examine the evolving role of AI in project management, future skills needed by project managers, and whether AI will replace or enhance the profession. Participants will gain practical insights into transitioning engineering careers into project management and developing a résumé that effectively showcases project leadership experience.
