CURRENT EXECUTIVES

Preet Dhingra, P.Eng
Chair

Preet Dhingra holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Technical
University. She is currently an Instructor in the Electrical Engineering Technology
program at Red River College, where she has been teaching since 2012.
Prior to her academic career, Preet gained extensive industry experience. She spent
eight years at SNC-Lavalin Inc., contributing to major infrastructure projects such as the
Winnipeg International Airport, as well as projects in the mining and hydroelectric fields.
Before that, she worked at Manitoba Hydro, gaining valuable early-career experience.
Preet is an active member of IEEE and currently serves as the Student Branch
Counsellor at Red River College, where she mentors and supports students in
leadership and professional development. She now serves as Chair of the India Members Chapter – Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, leading initiatives that promote the professional growth of chapter members, support community-based projects, and foster connections within the engineering community. She previously held the roles of Vice Chair and Councilor within the chapter.
Outside of her professional life, Preet enjoys traveling, spending quality time with her
family. She is happily married and a proud mother of two wonderful children.

Avishek Ghosh, M.Sc, P.Eng.
Vice Chair

Avishek Ghosh is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) currently serving as a Design Engineer at NFI Group Inc. His work encompasses the design, development, testing, and commissioning of next-generation zero-emission mobility solutions. Since joining NFI, he has contributed significantly to the engineering design and successful execution of multiple projects, with a primary focus on battery-electric and fuel-cell electric transit vehicle platforms. Driven by a commitment to advancing sustainable transportation, Avishek continues to leverage his expertise to help shape the future of clean, efficient, and innovative mobility solutions.

He earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Manitoba, and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, UK. Before immigrating to Canada, he gained professional experience as a Project Engineer in India.

Avishek has been actively engaged with the India Members Chapter for nearly five years, contributing in various leadership and volunteer capacities within the Executive Committee. Beyond his professional and volunteer commitments, he enjoys traveling, reading, and spending quality time with his family.

Ekamdeep Singh – P.Eng.
Secretary

Ekam is a motivated Project Manager currently working at Gerdau, Manitoba. In 2021, he earned a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree from the prestigious University of Manitoba.
With a keen interest in project management, Ekam is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has achieved his Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) certification.
Beyond his passion for engineering, Ekam is an avid Formula 1 fan, where he follows the latest developments in the sport. In his free time, he enjoys keeping up with the latest races and drivers.

Harmeet Gill, P.Eng, PMP
Treasurer

Harmeet Gill, a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified project manager, holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics from Panjab University (2005-2009). With 14 years of experience in IT, Radio Technology, and Telecom industries across India, Africa, and Canada, he brings a wealth of expertise. Currently he is registered as an EIT with EGM and currently working as Project Manager-IT with the City of Winnipeg since 2023. He joined the chapter because he is passionate about socialism and volunteering. Also, He would like to help newcomers in terms of career development in engineering practice.

Meet Thakar – P.Eng., C.E.T
Councillor

Meet Thakar holds an undergraduate degree in Mechatronics Engineering with a specialization in Robotics and Automation. He has extensive experience in the mechatronics and control systems industry, with particular expertise in robotics and machine learning.

Since 2021, Meet has been working as a Control Systems Developer at Price Industries. He also serves as an Engineer-in-Residence at École Templeton in Winnipeg through the Engineers of Tomorrow program.

A passionate volunteer, Meet is actively involved in several community and outreach initiatives. He is a Blue Bombers Fan Ambassador, an Engineer-in-Residence inspiring young minds in STEM, and a dedicated participant in the Festival du Voyageur. He is also in the process of joining Scouts Canada as a volunteer Scout Trooper.

In his leisure time, Meet enjoys contributing to open-source projects on platforms such as LeetCode, GitHub, and Code Triage.

Harjeet Dhillon, P.Eng
Councillor

After earning her Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from PEC University of Technology, Harjeet served as a Junior Engineer with the Punjab Urban Development Authority for four years. Following her immigration to Canada, she furthered her education by obtaining a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 2019.

For the past five years, Harjeet has excelled as a Professional Precast Design Engineer at Lafarge Canada. Beyond her professional achievements, she is deeply committed to inspiring the next generation of female engineers. She actively volunteers with organizations such as WISE Kid-Netic Energy and Manitoba Women in Construction, encouraging high school girls to explore the exciting possibilities within the field.

Harjeet credits the chapter and its members for playing a significant role in helping her establish a professional network in Canada. Eager to give back to the community that has supported her, she is keen to contribute her skills and enthusiasm by serving on the executive committee. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and engaging in creative craft activities with her two children.

Aman Warring – EIT

Councillor

Aman Warring holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Technical University, India.
He is currently working as a Fleet Maintenance Manager at Elk Logistics Inc., Canada, and as a Freelance Designer with MEP Professional LLC, New Jersey, USA.

Previously, Aman worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in the paper and pulp manufacturing industry, gaining hands-on experience in mechanical systems maintenance, operations management, and engineering support.

He also volunteers as an Engineer-in-Residence with Engineers of Tomorrow at Dr. F.W.L. Hamilton School in St. Paul, where he inspires and mentors future engineers.

His professional interests include mechanical systems design, maintenance optimization, operations management, and promoting engineering education outreach.

Vaishali Akbari
Councillor

Vaishali Akbari has Bachelor Degree and Diploma in Electrical Engineering from India. Currently, she is enrolled in CAD Technician course in Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology. Vaishali is an Engineer-in-training in Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba since 2022. She has an entry level working experience in the designing, sales and purchase area. Nowadays, she is looking for the opportunity to work in an Engineering field.
Apart from this, Vaishali likes to do cycling, dancing and creative things.

Suman Suri – P.Eng.

Past Chair

Suman Suri is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) currently working as a Control
Supervisor at NFI Group Inc., where she leads a team of 10 engineers focused on delivering
high-performance solutions in transit manufacturing and control systems.

She holds a Master’s degree in Electronics with Honours from Mumbai University and brings
over a decade of academic experience as a professor in India. Her strong foundation in both
education and engineering allows her to combine technical expertise with leadership and
mentorship.

Suman has been actively involved with the India Members Chapter for nearly seven years,
serving in various leadership and volunteer roles. Outside of her professional life, she is a
passionate badminton player and a proud mother of two smart and talented children.

Ganpat S. Lodha, PhD, P. Geo, FGC
Advisor

Ganpat S. Lodha had worked for 11 years in Geological Survey of India after graduating with Master’s degree in Geophysics from Banaras Hindu University. He subsequently came to Canada on a commonwealth scholarship and obtained a Ph. D degree in exploration geophysics. He was then employed for 12 years with mineral/oil exploration companies based in Calgary, Alberta. He moved to Manitoba in 1989 to take up a job with Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. involving research related to safe storage/disposal of high-level nuclear waste.

Ganpat retired from active employment in 2004 and has been volunteering on various committees of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM). In his volunteer position he represented EGM on Geoscientists Canada board during 2013-2018. He was also a board member of EGEF during 2006-2021 and responsible for setting up bursary fund for students in IEEQ program. Ganpat has received Outstanding Service and Honorary Life Membership awards from EGM. He is one of the founder members of India Chapter within EGM.

Vaibhav Banthia, M.Sc., P.Eng., CIM, PMP, FCSCE, FEC
​Advisor

Vaibhav Banthia, a CSCE, and an Engineers Canada Fellow, is the Director of Bridges and
Highway Structures at Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure. In this role, he provides
leadership, vision, and strategic direction for implementing the department’s strategic plan within a high-risk environment involving Manitoba’s bridge infrastructure across the provincial highway and water control networks. With over 28 years of experience in both the private and public sectors, Vaibhav has successfully led the delivery of high-priority, large-scale, high-value, and high-risk capital projects—many of which have received industry recognition. His career began in the private sector, and over the past decade, he has brought his expertise to the public sector.

This diverse background enables him to approach complex challenges from multiple perspectives, contributing to the successful execution of several award-winning infrastructure initiatives. Vaibhav has been involved in numerous notable transportation and infrastructure projects throughout his career, including four that received Consulting Engineers of Manitoba Awards under his leadership and coordination.

He is also a founding member of India Chapter, where he served as Vice-President
(Communications) during its inaugural year, followed by a two-year term as Chapter President
(Chair). He continues to provide strategic advice to the chapter’s executive team.
Vaibhav remains actively engaged with various technical societies and regulatory bodies and is
committed to mentoring internationally educated engineers, supporting their integration and
success in the engineering profession.
